A few days ago, while browsing technical forums, I came across a recurring topic: people installing Windows 11 on hardware that officially doesn’t support it. Microsoft set strict requirements, but it turns out there are ways to bypass them. Here I’ll tell you what I discovered.
Why Are Some PCs Not Compatible with Windows 11?
Microsoft requires modern processors, TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot for Windows 11. Many old or budget machines don’t meet these requirements, leaving out millions of users.
However, some users have shown that, technically, Windows 11 does work on these PCs. The operating system doesn’t block by hardware, but by Microsoft policies.

It turns out the Windows 11 installer has a “back door.” If you modify a key in the registry (BypassTPMCheck), you can skip the checks.
It’s not a complicated hack: it only requires entering the registry (regedit) before installing and changing a value. Several YouTube tutorials show it step by step.
That said, Microsoft warns that these machines might not receive updates. But, for now, it works.
Alternatives If You Don’t Want to Modify the Registry
If you don’t like touching the registry, there’s another option: creating a modified installation USB with tools like Rufus.
Rufus allows you to generate an installer that ignores the TPM and Secure Boot requirements. It’s safer than editing the registry manually and is the preferred option for many.
Is It Worth Installing Windows 11 on a Non-Compatible PC?
It depends. If your PC is very old (for example, with an HDD and less than 8GB of RAM), the experience may not be smooth.
But if you have a decent machine (SSD, good processor) and it’s only missing TPM 2.0, it will probably work fine. That said, assume the risk of possible future problems with updates.
Should You Do It?
If you need Windows 11 no matter what, there are ways to install it. But if your PC is very old, it might be better to stay on Windows 10 or upgrade the hardware.
That said, if you decide to try it, make a backup first. You never know.
