First, when I do an SEO audit, the first thing I do is look at the data. What data? Well, my website’s data, of course. I love using tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console. These are like my digital gurus, they tell me everything I need to know about who visits me, how they get to me, and what they like about my content.
Once I have that data, I dive into it. What pages are attracting the most visitors?, what keywords are they using to reach me?, this gives me an idea of what is working and what might need a little more love and attention.
After that, I start researching the competition. Yes, it sounds a bit spy-like, but it is necessary. What are they doing that I am not?, what keywords are they using?, this helps me understand my place in the big world of the internet and how I can improve my SEO to stand out.
And now comes the fun part: the technical audit. This is where I look under the hood of my website. Are my metadata in order?, are my URLs friendly for search engines?, does my site load fast?. All of this affects my SEO, so I have to make sure everything is in order.
Once I have reviewed all of that, it is time to get to work. I start working on the areas that need improvement and adjust my content strategy if necessary. And most importantly, I keep monitoring my data. SEO is not something you do once and that’s it, it is a constant job of optimization and monitoring.
So there you have it, that is how I measure the SEO audit. Data, research, analysis, and action. It is a continuous process, but when you see those numbers going up and your site climbing in the rankings, every minute invested in it is worth it.
