Google Ads Coupon 2026: The Fine Print Nobody Reads

Google Ads Coupon 2026: The Fine Print Nobody Reads

Google Ads coupons are credit, not cash. That’s the first thing people get wrong, and it’s the mistake that costs them the whole offer. Google hands out promotional credit — a balance that sits inside your account and can only do one thing: pay for future clicks. You can’t withdraw it, you can’t use it to clear last month’s invoice, and you can’t ask anyone to wire it to your bank. If someone tells you otherwise, they’ve never read the terms.

The Google Ads coupon is real, it’s usable, and it’s wrapped in deadlines engineered to expire before you notice them. That’s the whole story in one line. The rest is mechanics, and the mechanics are where people bleed money.

The numbers float around: €100, €200, €500. What you get depends on the country, the campaign type, and whether you’re a brand-new advertiser or an old account. The classic signup deal is the match offer — you spend 500, they match 500.

Here’s the detail that kills the offer before it starts: on most new-account Google Ads coupons, the code has to be entered within the first 14 days of opening the account. Plenty of people create the account, get distracted, come back three weeks later, and the code is dead. No second chance, no extension, no support ticket that fixes it. I’ve seen this happen to people who were literally one day late.

The “spend €500 and get €500” phrasing sounds like buy-one-get-one. It isn’t. You enter the code, start running ads, and Google tracks your real out-of-pocket spend. Once you cross €500 of your own money, the process finally starts. Those €500 don’t come back — Google keeps them. The credit lands separately and only applies to future spend. Add it up and you’ll be able to push €1,000 worth of advertising having paid €500 yourself. Half price, in effect — but only if your budget survives long enough to keep going.

The 35-Day Verification Trap and the 60-Day Burn Window

This is where most advertisers get wrecked. After you hit the minimum spend, Google takes up to 35 days to verify you ticked every single box. Over a month. During that window you’re still paying for every click with your own card, because the promotional balance hasn’t been released yet.

Then the second clock starts. Once the credit appears in your account, you get 60 days to spend it. Not 60 days to think about it. Not 60 days to fix your landing page. Spend it or lose it. And no, Google won’t email you three days before it evaporates. There’s no reminder, no countdown warning. One morning the promotional balance reads zero and your invoices go back to hitting your card like nothing ever happened.

  • Up to 35 days for verification after crossing the spend threshold.
  • 60 days to use the promotional credit once it lands.
  • Zero notifications when it expires.

If you’re running a small business and you don’t have a system to track this, you will lose the credit. Not might — will.

Existing Accounts: The Google Ads Coupon You Never Claimed

Google also drops coupons into accounts that already spend, usually to push you into testing something new — Performance Max, Demand Gen, or to wake up an account that’s been sleeping for months. Those aren’t requested. They arrive by email or land straight in the billing panel.

And here’s the move most advertisers miss: a lot of these offers appear in the Promotions tab inside Billing, with no email and no pop-up. If you haven’t opened that tab in six months, go look right now. There might be a credit sitting there waiting. Or there might be a corpse you never noticed rotting.

I’ve found €300 sitting in an account that had been ignored for eight months. It had already expired. That’s not a Google problem. That’s a “nobody was watching the dashboard” problem.

The Fine Print That Cancels a Google Ads Coupon You Already Applied

Small technicalities wipe the credit out completely. The big one: your payment method has to be configured before you enter the promotional code. Apply the code first and then switch to monthly invoicing, and the credit is invalidated. Gone. Not suspended — erased, as if it never existed. Google’s stance is blunt: the order of operations matters, and if you get it wrong, that’s on you.

The same thing happens with a billing transfer. Move the account from one company to another, change the account ownership, and the promotional credit doesn’t travel with it. It stays behind and expires in place.

One Google Ads coupon per customer, too. No stacking two codes on the same account. No opening a fresh account under the same business to claim a second one — Google cross-references the data and rejects it. If you manage client accounts, remember the credit doesn’t follow the client when they leave your agency, and it dies with the account if they close it. No refunds, no exceptions.

Location Rules: The Google Ads Coupon for Spain and Everywhere Else

Terms are geography-locked. The Google Ads coupon for Spain demands a billing address in Spain. VPNs and invented addresses don’t slip through — the code simply refuses to apply, and you’re left staring at an error message that tells you nothing useful.

Two separate clocks again, and confusing them costs money: the coupon itself typically expires 3 months after issue (or on the date printed on the coupon), and that’s completely independent from the 60 days you have to spend the released credit. One clock to enter the code, another to burn the balance. I’ve watched people mix these up and lose a €400 credit because they thought the 3-month window was the spending window.

Also worth knowing: promotional credit doesn’t pay taxes. VAT and other fees on your invoice come out of your own pocket. The Google Ads coupon covers the cost of clicks, nothing more. If you’re in a country with 21% VAT, that’s real money on top of whatever you spend.

Scams Hiding Behind the Google Ads Coupon Name

WhatsApp messages. Telegram groups. Websites that look official but aren’t. Someone offers you a €500 Google Ads coupon and then asks for card details or an “activation fee” to unlock the balance.

Google never charges you money to give you a coupon. Never. Anyone asking for payment to release promotional credit is running fraud, full stop, and the smartest thing you can do is block the number.

Then there are the codes circulating on forums. Most are dead on arrival. Some work — because they were stolen from other accounts. If Google traces a code back to an account that isn’t yours, the account gets suspended. You lose the advertising and the business sitting behind it. I’ve seen a small ecommerce operation go dark for two weeks because the owner grabbed a “free €500 code” off a Reddit thread.

Who Should Actually Use a Google Ads Coupon and Who’s Just Burning Money

Straight opinion, no hedging. If you’re a business testing Google Ads for the first time and you genuinely don’t know whether the channel works for you, a Google Ads coupon is a reasonable bet. You risk €500 to see real click data instead of burning €1,000 blind. That’s a cheaper experiment, and cheaper experiments are how you learn.

But if you already know Google Ads doesn’t convert for you, the coupon is just a delay tactic. Credit doesn’t fix a site that doesn’t convert. It doesn’t create demand for a product nobody searches for. It doesn’t rescue a broken campaign structure — it only funds more attempts at the same failure. I’ve watched people burn three coupons in a row on the same broken funnel and conclude that “Google Ads doesn’t work.” The coupon worked fine. The funnel didn’t.

Read the terms, enter the code on day one, keep your payment method frozen, and treat the 60-day window like a hard deadline. Because it is one.
