Solución de problemas en apps modificadas y clientes alternativos

Revanced on iPhone: real failures and what to use instead

If you’re coming from the Android world and have been looking for an alternative to YouTube ReVanced for iOS, you’ve probably already hit the same wall: there is no official ReVanced for iPhone. No TestFlight, no IPA signed by the developer, no maintained repository. What circulates are third-party ports, apps like uYou+ or YTLite that patch the official YouTube client and are installed via sideloading. And that’s where the problems begin.

Why sideloading on iOS breaks every few weeks

The most common case I see in forums and Telegram groups: you install uYou+ with AltStore or Sideloadly, it works for seven days, and then it stops opening with a «unable to verify app» message. It’s not a bug in the patch: it’s the free developer certificate signature expiring. Apple limits apps signed with a free Apple ID to 7 days, and to one year with a paid developer account (€99/year). If you also use a leaked enterprise certificate, the app can be revoked overnight without warning, and then even reinstalling won’t fix it until another certificate appears.

On iOS 17 and later, Developer Mode must be enabled manually in Settings, and the device has to be connected by cable at least once a week to refresh the signature. In practice, this turns usage into something that only makes sense for those willing to tolerate constant maintenance.

What fails when it «won’t load» after installing the IPA

The most common errors and their real cause:

  • Blank screen when opening patched YouTube: the IPA is signed with a revoked certificate or the bundle ID clashes with the installed official app. You have to uninstall the original YouTube app first.
  • Google login rejected: Google blocks sign-in on clients it detects as unofficial. It’s a known limitation documented by the patching community itself: there’s no stable solution, only temporary workarounds with MicroG or secondary accounts.
  • Background playback cut off: some PiP patches stop working after YouTube server updates, because patched apps depend on internal endpoints that Google changes without notice.
  • Downloads that get corrupted: the offline download feature of these clients stores files in the app container; when refreshing the signature with AltStore, that container can be lost and the downloads disappear.

Realistic alternatives depending on your use case

If you only want to block ads and enable background playback

The least fragile route on iOS is a DNS profile or a network-level blocking app (like AdGuard or NextDNS configured as private DNS). It doesn’t eliminate ads served from the same domain as the video, so the result is partial: it blocks banners and some pre-rolls, not all of them. According to documentation from the blocking projects themselves, ads inserted into the stream are difficult to filter without breaking playback.

If you need to download videos or audio

Shortcuts combined with web extraction services work without signing or sideloading, although they depend on the service staying online. For occasional use it’s more practical than maintaining a patched IPA; for daily use, it’s a nuisance.

If you’re coming from Android expecting the same thing

Here it’s worth being transparent: the ReVanced experience is not replicated on iOS. ReVanced is an APK patcher built on an open ecosystem; iOS doesn’t allow distributing apps outside the App Store without signing. Any tutorial that promises «ReVanced for iPhone without jailbreak and forever» is omitting the revocation cycle. And if the device is jailbroken, there are tweaks that do integrate features into the official app, but jailbreaking is no longer available on recent iOS versions and compromises the device’s security.

What doesn’t work (and is worth knowing before wasting an afternoon)

Installing the Android ReVanced IPA on iOS doesn’t work: they’re different formats. Configuration profiles that promise «free YouTube Premium» don’t work either: they’re phishing attempts or MDM profile installations. And there’s no legitimate way to bypass Apple’s signature verification without a developer account or jailbreak. If your priority is stability and you don’t want to check certificates every week, the sensible option remains the official app with Premium or a partial network blocker.
