Hey, we’ve all been there—opening Google Drive and seeing that message we dread:
“Storage space almost full“
And you’re there thinking: “But I only uploaded four things…”
Well no, buddy, Drive is like that closet that seems small but ends up packed to the brim with junk you don’t even remember. <a href="https://www.empresadeserviciosweb.com/post/como-delete-a-gmail-account/”>How to delete a Gmail account

🤔 What takes up space in Drive?
Well look, large files like videos, high-quality photos, and those heavy PDFs are the first suspects.
But watch out, it’s not just your own files that count—files shared with you count too (yes, that’s a betrayal) and Gmail email also eats up part of the space.
🕵️♂️ How do you find out what’s filling it up?
Here’s a trick that saves my life: go into Google Drive, into the “Storage” section (yes, that hidden menu almost nobody visits).
There you can see all your files sorted by size, and you can start deleting the ones you don’t need.
It’s like cleaning out a closet, but digital.
🧹 Step by step to free up space
- Delete duplicate or old files: those you keep around just in case but never use.
- Empty the trash: careful, deleting isn’t really deleting until you empty the trash.
- Check Gmail: messages with heavy attachments take up a ton of space.
- Use Google Photos carefully: if you upload in original quality, that really eats up space. Switch to “high quality” which is free and good enough for almost everyone.
- Download and save elsewhere: if there are files you want to keep but don’t need on hand, move them to an external hard drive or another service.
💡 What if all this isn’t enough?
Well, you can always consider expanding your space with Google One, which isn’t cheap but is convenient for those of us who are fully loaded with documents, photos, and everything else.
