I was excited to create my first page web with WordPress. I had read many tutorials and had followed step by step the instructions to install and set up everything correctly. .
I recommend you check out this article, which is interesting: <a href="https://www.empresadeserviciosweb.com/como-saber-que-plugins-usa-una-web/" title="Do you want to know what plugins a WordPress website uses? Find out how to easily detect themes and templates" class="internal-recommendation” target=”_self” rel=”noopener”>Do you want to know what plugins a WordPress website uses? Find out how to easily detect themes and templates.
But after a few days of hard work, I was finally ready to see the result of all my effort. So I opened my browser and typed in the address of my site.
What I saw next left me completely stunned. Instead of seeing my precious web page, there was a message that said “<a href="https://www.empresadeserviciosweb.com/post/como-<a href="https://www.empresadeserviciosweb.com/solutions-for-windows-11-version-24h2-cumulative-update/” title=”How to fix problems in Windows 11 version 24H2: cumulative update guide, installation, what’s new, services, and data update”>fix-the-error-error-500-internal-server-error-in-wordpress-quickly/” title=”How to quickly fix the "Error 500 Internal Server Error" in WordPress.”>Error 500: Internal Server Error“.
I tried reloading the page several times, but I always got the same error message. My heart sank and I started to worry that something had gone terribly wrong during the setup of my site.
After taking a few minutes to calm down, I started searching for <a href="https://www.empresadeserviciosweb.com/completa-guia-de-soluciones-para-errors-in-wordpress/” title=”Complete guide to solutions for errors in WordPress”>solutions online. I discovered that the <a href="https://www.empresadeserviciosweb.com/post/error-activacion-productos-word-excel-solucion-rapida-office-365-licencia-clave-producto/" title="how to fix the problem of product activation error in Word”>error 500 is a generic message that means there is a problem on the server and that it is not specific to WordPress.
Although that didn’t tell me much, I knew I had to find a way to fix it. So I started looking for more specific solutions for the error 500 in WordPress.
Finally, I found some solutions that seemed promising and decided to try them one by one. The first solution I tried was increasing the PHP memory limit. To do this, I had to access my wp-config.php file and add the following line of code:
define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’);
I saved the changes and reloaded my site. Finally, the error 500 was gone!
However, I soon realized there was another problem. Some of the pages on my site still weren’t loading correctly, and a 404 error message appeared.
I realized there was a problem with my links permalinks (permalinks). Permalinks are the structure of URLs that WordPress uses to display the pages and posts on your site. If they are misconfigured, you can get 404 errors.
To fix this problem, I had to access my WordPress admin dashboard and click Settings> Permalinks. Then, I selected the “Post name” option and saved the changes.
After reloading my site, I was finally able to see my full web page without error messages. I was so relieved and excited to have been able to fix the problem by myself, despite not being a WordPress expert.
I learned a lot during this process and realized the importance of having a good understanding of how a website works and how to troubleshoot common problems. Although the error 500 was frustrating at first, I finally feel more confident in my ability to handle similar problems in the future.
It is always discouraging to encounter an error when trying to access a website, but sometimes those errors can be an opportunity to learn and improve your skills.
