Let me tell you. I used to think that just by putting something into Google the absolute truth would come up… but no way. I fell for more than one hoax that would blow your mind. From “they’re shutting down WhatsApp” to “they’re going to take away your ID if you don’t sign a piece of paper” 😂.
And of course, you share it without thinking and end up looking like a fool.
Over time I learned that on the internet you have to be careful. Because yes, there’s good info, but there are also some really dodgy pages that look like they came out of a bad movie. If you go in and a thousand ads pop up, lights flashing and things like “ENTER NOW BEFORE THEY DELETE IT!”, run away. That smells fishy from a mile off.
I also realized that it’s not enough to just type in a few words and that’s it. Sometimes you have to search for the same thing in different ways, or check several websites, to see if they all say the same thing. If one says “yes” and another says “no”, then something’s off, right?
And please… don’t let what happened to me happen to you: don’t click on just any link that someone sends you on WhatsApp or Messenger. Those ones like “a video of you came out” or “you’ve won an iPhone”… all lies. I clicked once and they wiped out my account. A disaster.
Oh, and I say this with love: don’t share everything you see just because it sounds shocking or seems important. Sometimes without meaning to we help spread lies and scare people for no reason. Better to look carefully first, verify a bit, and if you’re not sure, then don’t post it.
Anyway, that’s it. The internet is amazing, but if you don’t know how to navigate it, they’ll pull one over on you. So keep a cool head and don’t believe everything you see, because there are plenty of con artists out there.
